Be Still my Anxious Heart

Has something been disturbing your peace recently?

Whether big or small, take your concerns to God and find calm for your heart.  Then, thank Him who has everything under the sun in His control.

Phillipians 4:6-7 (NKJV) tells us, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be known to God, and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Jesus Christ.”

What power we have in the knowledge that our God – who created the universe – not only provides all our needs, including peace and comfort, but also guards our hearts and minds and hears our every prayer – just because we ask!

Draw Close to God

 Draw Close to God?

How does a mere human draw close to the God of the Universe? Sit quietly and wait to hear His voice?  Start talking first?  Or, study and learn about Him?  Books have been written and Blogs created that teach Christians how to have a closer relationship with their Heavenly Father.  An internet search will find a multitude of articles on this topic, but why not begin simple and just keep in touch?

When my husband ends a phone call with a loved one or they depart from a visit, he always reminds them to “Keep in touch!” He knows that a personal relationship is built on time spent with the one who is loved.

So it can be when you love God, if you spend time keeping in touch with Him throughout your day.  The God of Creation loves you more than you can fathom.  Talk to Him anytime about anything and from there your relationship will grow.

Keep in Touch!

It’s Valentine Day!

Even though we love others every day, traditionally, this day – February 14th –  is all about loving – and letting those you love, know – how you feel about them.

The first true love I received came from Jesus Christ through what He did for you and me.  You can read all about it in the Bible at John 3:16 – and many other Chapters – check the index for the word love.  Our God loves us in so many inconceivable ways!

Other true loves include my husband, our children and grandchildren; our parents, siblings and dear friends.  Even our loyal pets love us.

This year for Valentine Day I finished an embroidery design that was started several years ago when a very young grandson began learning American Sign Language.  His older brother, an artist, sketched the design for me to use as a pattern for the “I love you!” sign.

Think on These Things . . .

While it is wise to be aware of what is happening in our world, it is wiser still to think on these things.

. . . Whatever is

  • true
  • noble
  • right
  • pure
  • lovely
  • admirable
  • praiseworthy
  • excellent

Phillipians 4:8 (NIV)

Faith, Hope and Charity

WP FAITH 1WP CHARITY 3WP HOPE 2

 The Three Virtues

Found in the Christian Bible

The apostle Paul said of Faith, Hope and Love, at 1 Corinthians 13:13 in the Bible, that the greatest of the three is Love, which is a synonym for Charity. The King James Version of the bible uses the word Charity instead of Love, but generally Love is used more often.

Artists have symbolized these three words. Bands, businesses and babies have been named after them. Popes have written encyclicals about them. And through the ages people have used them to embellish needlework.

Faith is symbolized by the Cross of Jesus Christ. An anchor is a symbol of Hope.  Not surprisingly, the heart represents Love.

I chose to embroider the three words in shades of blue that appear to represent the word itself. True blue just seems to fit Faith. Pale blue whispers a promise of Hope. Charity’s bold blue color sings loudly of an encompassing Love.

Live Expectantly. Choose Hope!

I choose to hope in God and be glad.  Something good is going to happen today because God walks with me.  He is at my side forever.  He will never fail me.  God is living in me no matter how I feel.  He gives me Hope!

God’s Word is the key to living God’s Way!

“What God requires of us is this: to do what is just, to show constant love, and to live in humble fellowship with Him.”  Micah 6:8.  (Good News Bible)

So often I fall short of what God expects, but I know that He takes pleasure in showing me His constant love even when I mess up down here on planet earth.  And – His mercies are new every morning!
